Terms of Service
Last updated: April 2026. Please read these terms carefully before purchasing or using Lucumo.
1. Licence grant
By purchasing a Lucumo Yale licence you receive a non-exclusive, non-transferable, personal licence to access and use the Lucumo platform for the duration specified by your plan tier. "Lifetime" access means access for the commercially reasonable life of the Lucumo product.
Your licence is tied to a single user account and may not be shared, resold, or sublicensed.
2. Your data
You own all data you submit to Lucumo, including conversations, tasks, notes, feedback, and business profile information, and all AI-generated outputs produced for you through the service. Lucumo claims no intellectual property rights over your content.
Lucumo uses your data solely to provide and operate the service for you. Your data is never sold, licensed, or shared with third parties for their own commercial purposes.
3. AI processing and model training
Lucumo does not train, fine-tune, or improve any AI model using your data. No content you submit is used to develop, benchmark, or evaluate models, whether by Lucumo or by any sub-processor.
Lucumo’s underlying AI provider (OpenAI) operates under API terms that exclude API inputs and outputs from model training by default. Lucumo does not opt in to any data-sharing or model-improvement programme with its AI providers.
AI processing occurs via API calls only. Your data is not stored by the AI provider beyond transient processing. OpenAI retains API data in abuse-monitoring logs for up to 30 days under its standard terms; Lucumo will pursue zero-data-retention eligibility as it becomes available to further reduce this window.
4. Sub-processors
Lucumo uses a limited set of third-party sub-processors to deliver the service. Each sub-processor is contractually bound to handle your data only as necessary to perform its function and subject to confidentiality obligations equivalent to those in these terms.
Current sub-processors: OpenAI (AI inference: conversation processing, summarisation, and tool calls); Clerk (authentication and identity management); Stripe (payment processing and billing); Vercel (application hosting, edge delivery, and file storage); Upstash (rate limiting and abuse prevention); database provider (persistent data storage).
Lucumo will notify you via email or in-product notice before adding a new category of sub-processor and provide at least 30 days to raise an objection.
5. Security
All data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest (AES-256). User data is isolated per account with authenticated route protection.
Sensitive product actions are recorded in an audit log. Lucumo does not permit its personnel to access your content except where required to provide support at your request, to maintain the service, or to comply with a legal obligation.
If Lucumo becomes aware of a security breach affecting your data, we will notify you without undue delay and in any event within 72 hours of confirmation, together with a description of the nature of the breach and the measures taken or proposed in response.
6. Data retention and deletion
Your account data is retained for the duration of your licence. On account deletion, personal data and conversation content are deleted within 30 days. Backup copies are purged within 90 days.
Anonymised, aggregated usage metrics (such as token counts and feature adoption rates) may be retained indefinitely for service improvement. These metrics contain no identifiable customer content.
You may export a complete copy of your data at any time from your profile page. The export is available immediately as a structured, machine-readable JSON download.
7. Confidentiality
Lucumo treats all content you submit (conversations, tasks, notes, feedback, and business profile information) as confidential business information.
Lucumo will not disclose your content to any third party except: (a) sub-processors listed in section 4, bound by equivalent confidentiality obligations; or (b) where required by law, in which case Lucumo will provide you with advance notice to the extent legally permitted.
8. Acceptable use
You may not use Lucumo for automated or programmatic abuse, credential sharing, reverse engineering, competitive intelligence gathering against Lucumo, or any purpose that violates applicable law.
Lucumo reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that breach this acceptable-use policy, with notice where practicable.
9. Fair use and usage allowance
Each licence includes a generous monthly usage allowance measured in AI tokens. This allowance is designed to accommodate normal, active use of Lucumo’s coaching, task, note, and feedback features by an individual founder or CEO.
Usage that materially exceeds the monthly allowance — including but not limited to automated or programmatic access, bulk data processing, or sharing account credentials — constitutes a breach of this fair-use policy.
Lucumo reserves the right to adjust monthly allowances with 30 days’ written notice. Any changes will not reduce your allowance below the level advertised at the time of your purchase.
For Early Bird licence holders, the monthly token allowance is provided with the intention that it remains included for the life of your licence. If the underlying cost of delivering this allowance becomes commercially infeasible — for example due to sustained increases in third-party AI infrastructure pricing — Lucumo reserves the right to introduce a nominal per-token charge with at least 60 days’ written notice. Any such charge will be set at cost-recovery levels, not as a profit centre.
10. Usage beyond the monthly allowance
Each licence includes a monthly token allowance. When your usage reaches this allowance, continued access to AI counsel requires a valid payment method on file. Without one, chat access pauses until the allowance resets on the 1st of the following month.
Lucumo reserves the right to introduce metered overage billing in the future. If introduced, you will be given at least 30 days’ notice of the overage rate before any charges apply. The current estimated overage rate is displayed on your billing dashboard for transparency.
You can monitor your token usage in real time from the billing page.
11. Early Bird tier
The Lucumo Yale Early Bird licence is offered to early supporters at a reduced price. Early Bird holders receive lifetime access, all future platform updates, and the lowest available overage token rate for the life of their licence. The monthly usage allowance included with your licence is intended to remain at no additional cost for as long as commercially feasible. Where Lucumo introduces newer or more capable AI models, those models may carry a moderately higher token rate; the existing allowance and base-model access will not be degraded.
Early Bird pricing is available for a limited time and may be withdrawn at Lucumo’s discretion.
12. Early Supporter tier
The Lucumo Yale Early Supporter licence becomes available once the Early Bird quota is reached. Early Supporter holders receive lifetime access, all future platform updates, and priority access to the crowdfunding wishlist on the same terms as Early Bird holders, at a higher price point.
Early Supporter pricing is available for a limited time and may be withdrawn at Lucumo’s discretion once the early supporter window closes.
13. Crowdfunding wishlist
Early Bird and Early Supporter licence holders may register non-binding interest in a potential future Lucumo equity crowdfunding round via the in-app crowdfunding wishlist. Registration is an expression of interest only and does not constitute an investment, a commitment to invest, or a financial promotion.
Lucumo makes no guarantee that a crowdfunding round will take place. Any future offering will be subject to applicable securities regulations, commercial viability, and separate legal documentation. No payment is collected through the wishlist.
Lucumo may contact registrants with updates about the initiative. You may withdraw your interest at any time from within the platform.
14. Refunds and cancellation
One-time licence purchases are non-refundable except where required by applicable consumer protection law. If you believe you are entitled to a refund, contact support within 14 days of purchase.
You may request account deletion at any time. Deletion terminates your licence and removes your data in accordance with section 6.
15. Limitation of liability
Lucumo is an AI-assisted tool. Advice, suggestions, and outputs are provided for informational purposes only and do not constitute professional, legal, financial, or medical advice. You are solely responsible for decisions made using the platform.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Lucumo’s liability under these terms is limited to the amount you paid for your licence. Nothing in this section limits Lucumo’s obligations under sections 2 through 7 (data ownership, AI processing, sub-processors, security, data retention, and confidentiality).
16. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute arising under or in connection with these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
17. Changes to terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or an in-product notification at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use of Lucumo after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
